  1. Georgina (Xiyue) Qian
    Dr. Georgina Qian specialises in financial economics and longitudinal data analysis. She holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, an MSc in International Business Economics, and a PhD in Finance. Prior to joining BGU, Georgina was an associate lecturer at the University of Lincoln. Her research interests include diversity, firm innovation, corporate finance, FinTech, the economics of innovation across developing countries, and multinationals’ innovation and technology spill overs.
  2. Dawood Khan
    Dawood Khan is a Lecturer in Marketing and Branding at Bishop Grosseteste University. He teaches undergraduate, postgraduate, and apprenticeship modules, and is actively involved in curriculum development for advanced-level courses. Prior to this, Dawood served as an Associate Lecturer at Nottingham University Business School (at the University of Nottingham), supervising MSc Marketing and Branding dissertations and mentoring students through complex research processes. Dawood has held various teaching positions at Nottingham Business School and Nottingham School of Art and Design (at Nottingham Trent University), where he delivered modules ranging from Strategic Marketing and Brand Management to Advanced Research Methods. He has also supervised dissertations for postgraduate students in fashion marketing and branding, fostering their academic and professional growth. Additionally, at Oxford Business College, he taught a broad range of courses, including Principles of Marketing and Researching Business Data taught via the University of West London curriculum.   3. Dr Abimbola Thompson
    Dr Abimbola (Bola) Thompson is a Senior Lecturer in Business at Bishop Grosseteste University. Before joining BGU, Bola worked in various capacities at various institutions including Coventry University Scarborough, Cambridge Education Group - OnCampus Hull, and University of Hull. Bola began her professional journey as an assistant auditor with Akintola Williams Deloitte and Touche, upon graduation in 2002. While practising as an auditor, Bola developed a keen interest in how financial practices influence broader economic systems. Bola received her MSc in Business Economics and PhD in Economics from the University of Hull, in 2005 and 2013, respectively. The PhD research topic was on “Financial development, FDI and Economic growth: Evidence from developing countries”. Bola has worked in various roles in higher education from foundation level to postgraduate studies; this includes tutoring, lecturing, module lead, and course content developer for master’s foundation postgraduate studies. Bola’s research and learning interests include macroeconomics, international trade, human capital and economic development, Foreign direct investments (FDI) and financial development. Her contributions to the academic community are significant as she serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of International Trade & Economic Development. Bola is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an active member of several prestigious organisations, including the British Academy of Management (BAM), the Chinese Economic Association (UK &EU), the World Economics Association (WEA) and the Academy of African Business and Development (AABD).
  4. Aggi Doughty
    Aggi Doughty is a Senior Lecturer on the Careers Development Professional Apprenticeship within the Business Team, and a Careers Adviser at The Hub. Aggi gained an undergraduate degree in Drama from the University of Leeds in 2001 and ran her own business working as an actor, director and dramaturg for five years, before moving into careers and completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance (DipCG) and Level 6 in Careers Development simultaneously in 2014. She has continued to study and practice within the careers space ever since, gaining a Masters in Career Development from Nottingham Trent University in 2021. She is committed to lifelong learning, gaining her Level 6 Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2014. She has most recently gained a Level 2 in Youth Work Principles, and has been a Fellow of the HEA since 2020. Her research interests are around the intersection of coaching and careers, narrative in career journeys, and sociological theories of employment, specifically in relation to gender and leadership. Prior to joining BGU, Aggi held a portfolio of careers consultancy and teaching roles alongside leadership positions in Further and Higher education. Her experience is local and national in a wide variety of educational settings from alternative provision, to Independent secondary schools, to Higher Education Institutions. She has been a Careers Leader in a number of secondary schools and has gained the National Quality in Careers Standard via the Career Mark pathway from scratch for four separate institutions (and counting!). She continues to work in practice as a Career Development Professional alongside lecturing.
  5. Dr Ian Pownall
    Dr Ian Pownall is an experienced academic researcher having started his career as a political and policy researcher in the 1990s, he then progressed through various posts including Head of Department and Director of Teaching, Learning at Hull University and more recently, associate professor at Lincoln Business School and currently has a new role of LINK tutor for the BA programmes with ICON college. Ian has eclectic teaching and research interests that include; the public sector in general, policy making, strategy, pedagogy, international business, research methods and decision making.

  7. Claudia McKibbin
    Claudia McKibbin is a Business Lecturer. She holds an LLB in Law and a Master of Arts in Middle East Policy Studies from the University of Exeter. She also holds a Master of Arts in International Relations recognised by the Universidade de Brasília. Her experience includes teaching in both Portuguese and English, developing professionals, content creation, coaching and mentoring, and learner capability analysis. Claudia’s areas of interest and expertise include EDI, Strategy and Risk Management, International Business, Continuous Improvement in Industry, Project Management, Law and Policy Compliance, Leadership and Management, Human Resources Management, Organisational Development, L&D, Conflict Resolution, and Cultural Intelligence. Claudia is a member of the Chartered Management Institute, works as a freelance consultant and has experience working within both public and private sector companies. Notably, Claudia worked as a Contracts Manager at an engineering firm in the USA, as an Executive Officer and Continuous Improvement Specialist within the steel industry in Brazil, and most recently as a Strategic Business Partner at a Lincolnshire NHS Trust. Alongside her role as lecturer, Claudia supports the Lincolnshire Open Research & Innovation Centre (LORIC) as a Business Research Associate with projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Outside of academia, Claudia teaches Latin and Ballroom dancing, and enjoys spending time with her family.
  8. Jonny Statham
    Jonny joined BGU in 2021 as a Senior Lecturer in Business and Enterprise, having previously worked as the Business Programme lead and People Development Manager at a private apprenticeship provider. His work history includes a variety of roles, including running his own training delivery business, working as an Area Manager for Aldi and as an IT Project Manager for AVIVA. However, for the majority of his career he was a Training Officer in the RAF, spending most of his time at the RAF Officer College, as the Senior Leadership Instructor and then latterly running the Course Design Team.He holds a BA (Hons) in Business Management and whilst working at the RAF Officer College he completed his MSc in Personal, Executive and Business Coaching. His teaching specialisms are mainly in the fields of Leadership & Management and Coaching & Mentoring. Jonny has also recently developed an interest in Digital Transformation.In addition to his position at BGU, Jonny also supports two family-run businesses with his wife.
  9. Susan Graham
    Sue has significant experience as a senior leader in a sixth form college and has been part of the PGCE secondary team at Bishop Grosseteste University since September 2019, focusing on training new business and social science teachers (key stage 4 and 5). Sue trained as a Business Studies Teacher in 1990, her teaching began in Leicester and her career evolved from classroom teacher to head of department, business and social science divisional head and then to assistant principal at a college in Grimsby. Sue is passionate about education and training, coaching and mentoring new teachers and supporting them into their ECT induction, beyond ITE.
  10. Nikki Smith
    Nikki joined BGU in 2017 originally taking up a post in BG Futures Business and Enterprise Centre alongside running her own Business and working as an Accounts Manager at Woldgrain Storage Ltd. Nikki started lecturing on the Business programmes at BGU in 2019 initially delivering the Finance and Economics modules on the BA Business. Nikki now leads on the Finance, Economics and Project Management modules across all of the Business provision and relishes the opportunity to share the skills and knowledge that she has developed over a career in finance spanning over 30 years, 26 of which were in banking.Nikki is passionate about enterprise and business start-up and is credited with bringing the Lincoln Teenage Market to BGU in addition to taking a lead on Enactus. Nikki has previously acted as a regional judge for Young Enterprise, is a corporate member of the CMI and holds Fellowship of the HEA.
