Dr. Abimbola (Bola) Thompson is a lecturer in Business at Bishop Grosseteste University. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hull.

Prior to joining BGU, Bola was a tutor in business at Coventry University Group, Scarborough campus where she taught a range of modules across the business, management and leadership (BML) degree programme. Bola was a module leader for quantitative management for business decision-making at ONCAMPUS Hull and she taught undergraduate, year 1 and masters foundation programmes in Economics, Business Behaviours, Management Accounting, and Quantitative methods.

Bola’s research interests are in Macroeconomics, International Trade, Human Capital, Economics Development, Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) and Financial Development. She is a member of the British Academy of Management (BAM), Chinese Economic Association (UK & EU), World Economics Association (WEA) and Academy of African Business and Development (AABD).

She serves as a reviewer for the Journal of International Trade & Economic Development. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
