An international exchange offered a unique perspective and professional growth for BGU students and their lecturers.
This April, our MA Education staff and students returned from an inspiring exchange visit facilitated by the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), as part of the UKNL Exchange Programme.
The international partnership, now in its second year, offers members of the BGU community unique opportunities to broaden their educational horizons and gain valuable global perspectives.
During the trip, the group were provided with a glimpse into the incredible range of facilities offered at the school settings they visited.
Students from both countries were able to discuss and reflect upon different approaches to education, enabling an environment in which they could learn from each other.
Daniel Toothill, a second year MA Education student at BGU, said: “The trip was incredibly valuable and really insightful – both pedagogically and in terms of a broader understanding of the Dutch curriculum.
“The settings we visited really showcased innovative and student-centred approaches having an emphasis on practical learning.”
The exchange not only deepened academic understanding but also built upon lasting international friendships and professional networks. As part of this exchange programme, Dr Lyndsay Muir, Senior Lecturer in Teacher Development at BGU, was invited to deliver a session at AUAS on Gender Diversity and Inclusion.
Lucy Hughes, Senior Lecturer in Education at BGU, said: “Our trip to the Netherlands was a brilliant opportunity for staff and students alike to explore approaches to education outside of our normal environment.
“We would like to say a big thank you to Daniel Toothill, who captured his experiences in a vlog for us. It is great to hear what a positive impact the visit had on our community.”
