On Monday 3rd March 2025, Dr Tim Galsworthy, Lecturer in History and Military History at BGU, was awarded the Elisha and Elizabeth Atkins Memorial Research Travel Fellowship.

The fellowship, awarded by the Political Studies Association American Politics Group (PSA APG), is purposed to help support a research trip from the UK to the United States – for work on projects related to American politics.

In receipt of one of two £750 grants, Tim plans to visit the Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene, Kansas, as part of his new project exploring Dwight Eisenhower's post-presidency.

In regard to his fellowship and upcoming trip, Tim said: “I am incredibly proud to have been awarded the Elisha and Elizabeth Atkins Memorial Research Travel Fellowship. The PSA APG is one of the leading organisations supporting the study of US politics in the UK, so to have my work recognised by them is an honour.

“The funds awarded as part of the Fellowship will be invaluable for supporting a planned future trip to the Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene, Kansas, where I will be undertaking archival research into Eisenhower’s post-presidency and his relationship with southern Republicanism.”
