Our FdA Early Childhood Education in Practice course is designed for those working or volunteering with children 0-8 years in the voluntary, private and independent early years sector or a foundation unit in a school. This course is also for nannies, child minders and those working in Children’s Centres with families of young children.

    Are you ready to take the next step in your educational journey? The BA (Hons) Education in Practice programme is the perfect opportunity for individuals who have already completed BGU's Foundation Degree Education in Practice, as well as those with similar qualifications from BGU and other institutions. This programme allows you to work or volunteer for a minimum of two days per week in an education setting while working towards a Bachelor's Degree.

    Are you enthusiastic about early childhood education and ready to take the next step in your academic and professional growth? Our BA (Hons) work-based degree programme is the perfect opportunity for individuals who have already completed a suitable Foundation Degree or Higher Education Diploma in Early Childhood. This programme seamlessly blends practice-based learning with campus-based teaching sessions that take place once a week, ensuring you can maintain your current work or volunteer commitments.

  7. Sustainability and Ethical Practice
    The most senior manager with responsibility for environmental sustainability at the University is Tom Dannatt, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Operations) (tom.dannatt@bishopg.ac.uk). Other members of staff with an environmental sustainability remit include Director of People and Infrastructure Jonathan Cheeseman (jonathan.cheeseman@bishopg.ac.uk), Chief Estates and Facilities Officer Brendan Pritchard (brendan.pritchard@bishopg.ac.uk), and Campus Operations & Accommodation Manager Rachel Crane (rachel.crane@bishopg.ac.uk). The University’s working group on environmental sustainability and ethical practice is BG Green (BGGreen@bishopg.ac.uk). For more information see the BG Green tile below. The University’s supreme governing body is University Council which meets 4 times a year. Membership includes the BG Students’ Union President and an elected student representative. Membership of Senate, the University’s highest academic body, includes the BG Students’ Union President and Vice-President. Our FdA Education in Practice course is designed for you if you are working and supporting children in primary, secondary, special schools or learners in a further education college.     Our English Language and Teaching programme immerses you in the fascinating study of English, from how it developed from humble origins to the global language with all its variations that we use today, to how it is learned by children as a first language or by learners of English as a second or further language - and much more. You will explore questions about language structures and language use in society, language disorders, and language acquisition and you will learn practical methods - and get hands-on experience - of how to teach it. Crucially, you will develop skills and knowledge to help you gain employment or pursue further studies for work or research in linguistics, education, and language teaching, and a range of other relevant fields.
