Psychology and English with Foundation Year
If you don’t have, or don’t think you will attain the normal tariff points for studying at BGU, this course will enable you to study for a degree without any UCAS points. The course is delivered over four years and includes a Foundation Year, which gives you a perfect introduction in what it means to be a university student, equipping you with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective undergraduate study. In addition, during your Foundation Year, you will study eight modules, all of which are designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress your studies in your chosen subjects. Studying English at BGU provides an exciting and wide-ranging engagement with the power of human creativity and the rich heritage of literary expression. You will study great works of literature from Sophocles to Ali Smith, directing your own path of learning through module options such as creative writing and crime fiction, American and World Literature, Restoration drama and trauma narrative, Victorian, Romantic, and contemporary literature. Through studying Psychology at BGU you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the scientific nature of the subject and of its wider cultural and social impact. You will develop your understanding of psychology and its theories of the mind, emotions and behaviour and become familiar with how these theories are applied in our lives, communities and societies. -
English Language & Teaching with Foundation Year
Our English Language and Teaching programme immerses you in the fascinating study of English, from how it developed from humble origins to the global language with all its variations that we use today, to how it is learned by children as a first language or by learners of English as a second or further language - and much more. You will explore questions about language structures and language use in society, language disorders, and language acquisition and you will learn practical methods - and get hands-on experience - of how to teach it. Crucially, you will develop skills and knowledge to help you gain employment or pursue further studies for work or research in linguistics, education, and language teaching, and a range of other relevant fields. -

Sport, Coaching & Physical Education with Foundation Year

Sociology and Sport with Foundation Year
The BA (Hons) Sociology and Sport joint programme explores the complexities of the development of sport and performance. Its focus is on developing knowledge and understanding of sport, and physical education in its broader sociocultural context. You will be introduced to a range of central, yet diverse, theoretical approaches to the study of society that have been and are still developing within Sociology. The course will provide a critical and reflexive understanding of modern and contemporary social and sociological theories. The degree will explore research issues and debates surrounding notions of policy, inclusion, deviance, equity and identity in relation to sports coaching and physical education. -
