  1. Revd Canon Professor Leslie J Francis
    Leslie Francis holds the part-time post of Professor of Religions, Psychology and Education. He works with doctoral students in fields that connect religious studies, theology, psychology, and education. Before joining Bishop Grosseteste University he held chairs in Pastoral Theology at Lampeter, Practical Theology at Bangor, Religions and Education at Warwick, and Religions and Psychology at Warwick. Currently he holds visiting positions in universities in Pretoria and Newfoundland and serves as Canon Theologian at Liverpool Cathedral.
  2. Alison Taylor
    Alison joined Bishop Grosseteste in 2018 and is currently teaching on the undergraduate programme in Special Educational Needs, Disability and Inclusion (SENDI). She delivers modules which cover such topics as complex needs; social, emotional and mental health; the professional context; barriers to learning. Her career has included ten years of primary class teaching, advisory work for the autism team of the Specialist Advisory Service (Herts) and five years as a special educational needs coordinator (SENCO). Alison has written and delivered a variety of SEND and safeguarding presentations, with a particular passion for autism education. She has contributed to the Lincolnshire Autism Partnership Board since 2015. Alongside this professional practice, Alison has gained a post graduate diploma in autism (University of Birmingham), the National Award for SEND Coordination (NASENCO) and a master’s qualification in Special Education and Inclusion (Northampton University). She is recognised as a fellow by the higher education academy (FHEA).

  4. Dr Jennifer Bourne
    Dr Jennifer Bourne is a graduate of Clare College, Cambridge and Hull University, where she did her PhD thesis on Joseph Conrad and Freudian Psychoanalysis. She is the author of fifteen historical romance novels and two novellas, all written under a pseudonym. She has been nominated for four Romantic Novelist Association Awards and won for Short Romantic Fiction in 2020. She has taught Creative Writing at BGU since 2018, with an emphasis on students finding and developing their author voice through the use of Writing Journals, writing prompts and class feedback. Subjects covered include Points of View, Characterisation, Plotting, Poetry writing, Short Story writing and Dialogue.

  8. Dr Hannah Grenham
    Hannah has been a member of staff at Bishop Grosseteste University since 2017, when she joined the Centre for Enhancement in Learning and Teaching (CELT) as a Learning Development Tutor. Since 2021, she has worked as a Senior Lecturer on the Foundation Year programme and also contributes to teaching in the History department. Prior to coming to BGU, Hannah earned an undergraduate MA in English and Modern History and a postgraduate MLitt in Modern History, both from the University of St Andrews. She was awarded her PhD from the University of St Andrews in 2017 for a thesis titled ‘Power to the People: Changing Attitudes to Computer Technology in the United States, 1951-1982’. Hannah is also a Certified Practitioner of Learning Development through ALDinHE and an Associate Fellow of the HEA. Hannah’s research interests are in late modern US history, particularly in the connections between society, culture, and technology. She is also interested in researching the professionalisation of Learning Development and pedagogical practices within Higher Education.   9. Philip Yeung
    Philip has worked at Bishop Grosseteste University since 2018, first as a Visiting Tutor before taking on various roles such as Programme Leader, Deputy Head of Programmes and Associate Dean. He has taught on several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including Foundation Year, PGCE, iPGCE and MA Education. Philip currently works as Head of Online Learning at the University. Philip studied his undergraduate degree in music at the University of East Anglia. Once graduated, he undertook his PGCE with the Open University and became a fully qualified teacher in the secondary sector. Philip spent 10 years working in secondary schools and FE colleges, mostly as a Music Teacher and Curriculum Leader of Music and Performing Arts. After completing his MA in International Educational Management at the University of Leeds, Philip taught on various Education-related MA programmes at both the University of Leeds and the University of Bath, specialising in educational leadership and management.   10. Dr Sunny Dhillon
    Prior to joining the Education Studies team in November 2021, Sunny spent five years as a learning developer at the University of Leeds, as well as at BGU, where he also worked as a Visiting Tutor in the Theology, Ethics and Society department. Sunny conducted his doctoral research through the Philosophy department at Cardiff University, focussing on the concept of utopia through the works of Friedrich W. Nietzsche, Ernst Bloch and Theodor W. Adorno. Sunny’s research interests include Critical Theory (The Frankfurt School), Nietzsche, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Utopia and Philosophy of Education. His current research projects critically explore education as ontotheological principle, and student engagement from the perspective of academics in the social sciences who often experience a ‘disclosure dilemma’ when deciding what perspectives to share with students across levels of HE.
