Bishop Grosseteste University has been named University of the Year for Student Support in the Daily Mail University Guide 2026!
Published on Thursday 14th August, in line with A level results day across the UK, the Daily Mail University Guide 2026 provides expert advice to help students decide on a higher education option – with insightful league tables and in depth university profiles.
Professor Andrew Gower, Vice Chancellor of the University, said: “As a confident, person-centred and forward-looking university offering a highly personalised and engaging student experience on-campus and online, we were delighted to be top for teaching, student experience and student support in the recently announced results of the National Student Survey.
“To be named University of the Year for Student Support within the Daily Mail University Guide 2026 is a highly prized accolade we value greatly.
“The positive difference we make in the lives of our students and their communities is reflected in our sector-leading reputation for widening participation with outstanding results.”
The guide is based on results published earlier in the year via the National Student Survey 2025. Voted for by undergraduates in their final year of study, BGU achieved 1st in the UK for Teaching, 1st in the UK for Learning Opportunities and 1st in the UK for Assessment and Feedback.
This prestigious award comes at an exciting time for the University, as it embarks on a new chapter as Lincoln Bishop University, from the start of the new academic year.
Alastair McCall, Editor of the Daily Mail University Guide, said: “Students at BGU are better supported than at any other university in Britain. That was the verdict of its own students in this year’s National Student Survey.
“As one of the smallest universities in the country, BGU is able to offer a more personal university experience than other larger institutions and nowhere is this felt more keenly than in the levels of support it is able to provide.
“In what is traditionally one of the worst scoring areas of the National Student Survey covering academic assessment and feedback on student work, BGU scored a remarkable 99.3% for feedback being provided in a timely fashion. It was the only university to score more than 90% overall across all measures of student support in a Daily Mail analysis of the survey’s outcomes.
“These results made an unanswerable case for BGU to be the Daily Mail University of the Year for Student Support 2026.”
