This year, children from Branston Junior Academy graduated from the Children’s University programme, accompanied by Headteacher, Mr Barry Thornton. The event arranged by the University of Lincoln in collaboration with Bishop Grosseteste University, marked a significant milestone for the young learners who have dedicated themselves to expanding their horizons beyond the classroom.
The Children’s University is a national initiative that encourages children aged 5 to 14 to engage in high-quality learning experiences outside of school hours. By participating in a wide range of activities - from museum visits and sports clubs to science workshops and creative arts - children earn credits that count towards their graduation. The programme aims to foster a lifelong love of learning, boost confidence, and raise aspirations.
During the ceremony, each child proudly received a certificate recognising their commitment and achievements. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride as families and educators applauded the graduates.
Following the formalities, the children took part in a series of fun and educational activities designed to celebrate their success and inspire future learning. The day concluded with a well-earned treat, pizza!
The event highlighted the power of community partnerships in supporting young learners. Bishop Grosseteste University and the University of Lincoln continue to work together to provide enriching opportunities for children across Lincolnshire, helping to shape the next generation of curious, confident, and capable individuals.
