  3. Sociology graduate and BGU student researcher speaking at TEDX event
    The independently organised TEDx event aims to share bold ideas, long truths, and jaw-dropping creative visions. The day event will feature a speaker programme, discussion groups, workshops and is designed to help you dig deeper and turn ideas into actions. Robyn studied Sociology at BGU and was also student researcher on this two-year project to that provided a programme of activities to raise awareness, share learning and promote progress using Participatory Action Research, to make BGU better placed to promote inclusion. Earlier this year, Robyn also gave a poster presentation at the International Conference on Women’s Leadership and Empowerment in Amsterdam on the project ‘Enabling Gender Equality in Leadership: an exploration of leadership and self-awareness at Bishop Grosseteste University’. Robyn Jackaman said: “I’m delighted to be speaking at the TEDxBrayfordPool event this November.     Through studying a Psychology degree at BGU you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the scientific nature of the subject and of its wider cultural and social impact. This course will develop your understanding of psychology and its theories of the mind, emotions and behaviour and become familiar with how these theories are applied in our lives, communities and societies.

    The BA (Hons) Sociology and Sport joint programme explores the complexities of the development of sport and performance. Its focus is on developing knowledge and understanding of sport, and physical education in its broader sociocultural context. You will be introduced to a range of central, yet diverse, theoretical approaches to the study of society that have been and are still developing within Sociology. The course will provide a critical and reflexive understanding of modern and contemporary social and sociological theories. The degree will explore research issues and debates surrounding notions of policy, inclusion, deviance, equity and identity in relation to sports coaching and physical education.

    Studying Education Studies at BGU will provide you with an excellent understanding of education in its widest sense, nationally and globally, and is a great course if you are interested in a career in teaching or are thinking about working in other education-related areas.

    The BA (Hons) Special Educational Needs, Disability and Inclusion (SENDI) and Sociology joint degree programme challenges norms and assumptions surrounding context and categorisation of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The programme provides you with the opportunity to engage in study that offers a balanced range of modules from both disciplines and allows for the interconnections in concepts to be explored.
