    Registering with a GP The university recommends you register with a local GP based in Lincoln during your time as a student here, as you will spend the majority of the year in Lincoln. Registration is easy and you can register at another GP practice once you have finished your studies. We have included details of two local practices you may wish to consider using: Minster Medical Practice: www.minstermedicalpractice.co.uk The Minster Medical Practice is nearest to the BGU campus. University of Lincoln Health Service: www.ulhsonline.co.uk The ULHS is a cross-campus practice which services the University of Nottingham, the University of Lincoln, and BGU. The GPs are well-versed in dealing with student issues (e.g. applications for extenuating circumstances and Disabled Students’ Allowance). Directions For Minster Medical Practice: Turn right out of the main car park, onto Longdales Road. Keep walking on Longdales Road until you reach the roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout, onto Nettleham Road. Keep walking until you reach the pedestrian crossing and then… Turn left onto Cabourne Avenue. Cabourne Court is the second road on the left. The Health Service will be a little further on your right.   5. Early Childhood
    You’ll mainly focus on the educational, social and health care of children from birth to 8 years of age, gaining an appreciation of how they think and learn, as well as developing an understanding of how to facilitate learning through a range of strategies. You will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice through a relevant early years placement in each year of study.
  6. Professional Studies
    Have you ever thought about working towards a degree, but decided against it as you are already in employment or volunteering and don’t want to give that up? Our Professional Studies Foundation Degrees and BA (Hons) Top Up Degrees are designed for those working or volunteering with children and young people in a wide variety of settings. Here at BGU, we value the knowledge and experience you have gained so far in your career and want to help you expand on this to enhance the support provided for children and young people. This work-focused degree is a combination of practice-based learning and campus-based taught sessions which run once a week so that you are able to continue in employment or volunteering throughout the duration of the course.
  7. Childhood & Youth
    You’ll have opportunities to explore the educational, social and health care of children from birth to 24 years of age, gaining an appreciation of how they think and learn, as well as developing an understanding of how to facilitate learning through a range of strategies. On some courses you will also have the opportunity to put your learning into practice through a relevant placements.
  8. Foundation Degree
    Foundation degrees at BGU are designed for people who want to gain a qualification relevant to their career working with children and young people, both in an educational or a social care setting, without them having to leave work.
  9. Psychology
    Through studying Psychology at BGU you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the scientific nature of the subject and of its wider cultural and social impact. You will develop your understanding of psychology and its theories of the mind, emotions and behaviour and become familiar with how these theories are applied in our lives, communities and societies.
  10. Foundation Year
    Our degrees with an embedded Foundation Year offer the chance to study almost any undergraduate degree at BGU over four years, rather than the traditional three.
