Alice Anders new start-up is dedicated to creating a nurturing, stimulating and welcoming environment for all children.

Recently the Head of Careers, Employability and Enterprise, Allison Webb from BG Futures was delighted to represent Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) at the launch event of recent graduate Alice Ander’s new start-up, Tingers Childcare.

Alice holds over 15 years Early Years’ experience and is a BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies, PGCE and MA Education graduate from BGU.

Alice explains: “Tingers aims to expose children to different environments and various learning experiences, allowing them to; explore their self-awareness, gain a sense of the world around them, build confidence and foundations for the next stage of their young lives and learning journey.”

Speaking to Cassie Rainey, Careers Employability and Enterprise Advisor, Alice was grateful to BGU, saying: “The support I received at BGU has been invaluable. I have progressed from an undergraduate degree to a PGCE, and then onto a Master's in Education. The combination of academic learning and professional development opportunities has supported me to develop the expertise and attributes needed to run my own business.

“The BG Futures team supported me to develop the skills and tools I needed to start my own business. In particular, conversations with the advisors as well as students running their own businesses enabled me to progress on my own personal and professional journey.

“The bespoke nature of the support available to me was really important. I was able to access advice and guidance as and when I needed it, allowing me to manage my other commitments.

“I look forward to continuing my engagement with BGU via my Alumni Ambassador and Guest Lecture roles, allowing me to give back to the BGU community.”

Allison added: “It seems a long time since my first conversation with Alice and I am delighted that Alice did not lose sight of her idea and that the BG Futures team has been able to provide continuing support despite the setbacks the pandemic bought.”

Based at South Park Community Hub, Tingers Childcare has space for 0–5-year-olds. For more information, please visit their website.
