Academic Dress
You are required to wear full academic dress for the ceremony (gown, hood and mortarboard). This must be provided by and ordered in advance from Ede & Ravenscroft Ltd, the University’s official gown hire company. If you do not order your robes in advance there is no guarantee that the correct academic dress will be available for you on the day.
We recommend that you wear plain, simple and smart clothes, as these look best with the academic dress. To get an idea of what will work best for you, why not take a look at last year’s Graduation photos on our Facebook page.
On the day of the ceremony, you will be able to collect your gowns from Ede & Ravenscroft in the Robert Hardy Building according to the timetable you will receive in your information and ticket pack.
The costs for gown hire and tickets are as follows:
Bachelors/Foundations/Diplomas £45.00 discounted online hire price
Postgraduate and Master's Awards £51.00 discounted online hire price
Photography
The University’s authorised photographers are also Ede & Ravenscroft who will be available for both individual and family group photographs from 7:00am to 6:00pm in the Robert Hardy Building.
There will also be a photograph taken of each student whilst on the platform. It is recommended that you have your photographs taken after your ceremony if you are attending the morning ceremonies, as you will have more time to do this at your leisure.
Live Streaming
The ceremony is live streamed and can be accessed via the University Website. Graduates and guests should be aware that they might appear in this recording and also at a later date if used at other events.
Graduation Merchandise
Quality graduation merchandise will be available to purchase on the day. In addition, the names of graduands will be provided to our external supplier for use on graduation products such as t-shirts and hoodies. These do not include any award titles or classifications.
Graduation Accommodation
Unfortunately we are not able to offer student accommodation during the graduation period this year.
Parking
Parking in the vicinity of the Cathedral is restricted, particularly during the tourist season; however, guests can be dropped off outside the Cathedral at any time. Limited parking is available at Bishop Grosseteste University, which will be free of charge for the day, and you can walk from there in about 15 minutes. For those who would prefer not to walk, a local bus service runs from outside the University on Newport to the Lincoln Hotel (opposite the Cathedral) approximately every 20 minutes until 6:15pm. Visit the Stage Coach website for a detailed timetable (route 7 or 8).
Public parking is available in the Cathedral Quarter on Westgate, a five-minute walk from the Cathedral. There is also some parking on local streets where there are no yellow lines or other restrictions but please take care not to block access to drive ways.
Please allow plenty of time to arrive in Lincoln.
