Subject to Covid-19 Restrictions, Graduation 2022 will be taking place on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th July 2022.

Graduation will take place on both days at Lincoln Cathedral, with ceremonies at 10:15am and 2:30pm. Celebrations will also take place on campus.

Graduating in the magnificent surroundings of Lincoln Cathedral is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we know you’ll want to be a part of it.

We’ll make sure you get to celebrate in style with hundreds of other BGU students, members of staff and, of course, your family and friends. Ceremonies will take please on all days at 10:15am and 2:30pm along with celebrations on campus throughout the day.

Which ceremony you attend depends on which course you have studied. Further information on this will be released in January 2021.

Please note: you are able to register and book tickets from 14th April at 9am. You must register to attend and purchase your guest tickets you require before Sunday 15th May 2022. You will not be able to register your attendance to attend graduation after Sunday 15th May 2022.

Booking Information

Please note you can order you gowns when purchasing tickets – these will not be available until Thursday 14th April 2021. You will receive an email to your BGU and Personal account on this day at 9.00am.

The booking link will be live from 14th April at 9am until Sunday 15th May 2022.

You must book your graduation tickets by the end of Sunday 15th May 2022, even if you think you might not pass the course. Gowns can be booked at a later stage no later than 3 July 2022.

Ceremony and Tickets

Guest tickets for the ceremonies in the Cathedral are £20. These include a glass of Prosecco or a soft option of your choice for you and your ticket paying guests. This will be available at Bishop Grosseteste campus from 11:00am – 5:00pm. There is no charge for graduands and you will also receive a glass of Prosecco.

Due to the limited number of seats available in the Cathedral, we are only able to initially offer each student two guest tickets.* Registration to attend and book tickets commences on 14th April until Sunday 15 May 2022.

The design of the Cathedral might mean that you may not be able to see all the proceedings all of the time from where you are sitting, so large visual screens are placed in the Cathedral to allow guests a clear view, even from the back of the Nave. It is considered that the ceremony is not suitable for young children. If you are bringing children to the ceremony, we politely ask that you try to keep them quiet and seated throughout the ceremony, in respect of this special day.

Please note that due to health and safety regulations children over 12 months old will require their own ticket and will not be able to sit on laps. The graduation ceremony will last approximately one hour.

In addition to the ceremonies in the Cathedral, there will be a link on the BGU Graduation web page to live streaming, so that ceremonies can be viewed online all over world!

*In the very unlikely event of 100% take up on the initial registration the third ticket purchased will be refunded and the surplus tickets re offered on a first come first served basis.

Additional Tickets

Availability of additional tickets cannot be guaranteed or confirmed until all the applications have been processed. We will email your student account on 24th May 2022 with details of availability and how to apply. The website goes live on 27th May 2022. Subject to availability, this system will issue available extra tickets on a first come first serve basis.

Please note: All tickets will be included in your information packs and these will be posted to your home address during the second week of July, you do not need to print anything off.

Information about extra tickets will be emailed to you and posted on this website on 24th May 2022 – you will not be able to apply for extra tickets unless you have already registered and this will not be live to do so until 27th May 2022.

Important Information

Refunds will only be given if ceremonies are cancelled or you fail the course

To continue our legacy of supporting students, any profit from the events will be paid directly into the BGU Foundation Fund. The fund supports a range of projects that clearly demonstrate enrichment during your time at the University and after graduation. It focuses on projects that cannot be resourced through the University’s main funds. A number of small grants are available to assist with voluntary work or other innovative, creative, charitable or community based projects both here in the UK or overseas.
