Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Our MA Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is designed to reflect the interests and ambitions of graduates and practitioners engaged in the complexities and challenges related to SEND. Available in three study modes—full-time (1 year), part-time blended (2 years), and part-time online (2 years)—this programme allows you to explore, analyse and critique ideology, pedagogy and sociological frameworks concerning inclusive and specialist education. You'll develop systematic understanding of knowledge related to SEND theory and practice, promoting competence and confidence in reflective practice, decision making in complex situations, and conducting independent research. The programme encourages sharing of experience and encourages reflection and contributions. With a strong focus upon creating change, challenging your thinking and understandings. Bishop Grosseteste University hosts fun educational afternoon for Lincoln school children
Around 150 reception-aged children recently visited Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) for a fun-filled educational afternoon with first-year trainee teachers. The children, aged 4-5, came from four Lincoln schools - Minster Preparatory School, St. Giles Academy, Ermine Infant School, and Mount Street Infant School. The BA Primary Education students organised a range of activities as part of the enhanced provision day. The children participated in story time, various arts and crafts, outdoor games and a treasure hunt that took place across the campus. The trainee teachers demonstrated their initiative and adaptability by modifying activities based on the children's needs and interests. After the event, a representative from one school said, "All the children were engaged and enjoying the activities. Many of them commented on the way back as to how much they had enjoyed themselves, even yesterday a few of them were still talking about it. It was lovely to see the time and effort put into creating the activities." Another teacher commented, "The afternoon at BGU will have made such a difference to the children! Experiences like these are so beneficial to their development. "We were really impressed with the activities, the enthusiasm of the trainees, and how they interacted with the children. They helped them feel at ease but also garnered excitement and curiosity for the activities." The event was a huge success, providing a great opportunity for the trainee teachers to showcase their skills and creativity, and for the children to enjoy an afternoon of fun activities. -

The International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (iPGCE) is an online distance-learning programme tailored to those looking to gain a recognised qualification from a UK university with a long and distinguished history in education and teacher development. Studying for the iPGCE is fully online and designed for students (from anywhere in the world) who are already undertaking teaching work in international settings, or who wish to do so in the future. Upon successful completion of the iPGCE, students will also have developed the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue further studies, such as an education-related MA. -

Professional Practice in Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) (Grantham)
Our FdA Professional Practice in Special Educational Needs and Disability is designed for people already working in this field, who want to develop their careers. If you are working or regularly volunteering in a school, nursery, residential care or another professional setting, supporting children, young people or adults with special educational needs and disabilities, this programme will enable you to study for a Foundation Degree whilst continuing the work role you love. This course is typically taught, one afternoon/evening session per week at Grantham College, the course combines college-based learning with your ongoing professional practice and some independent study. You will increase your knowledge and understanding, and develop academic skills to enhance you career and/or move on to higher study. Please note that this course is taught at Grantham College.
