Dr Amanda Arbouin, Honorary Senior Fellow in Education Studies at Bishop Grosseteste University, is currently involved in the Storytelling: exploring race and leadership in adult social care project. The research aims to elevate the voices of global majority leaders to fight racism and advance equity in the social care sector.

In her book, Black British Graduates: Untold stories, Dr Arbouin breaks new ground by examining the educational journeys and career outcomes of ten British graduates of African Caribbean heritage. The narratives offer a rare insight into the obstacles black learners encounter and the strategies they adopt to achieve educationally and pursue their chosen professions.

Amanda speaks at the Teaching to Transform conference about the innovative work the Stephen Lawrence Research Centre (SLRC) are doing to improve racial literacy and decolonise the curriculum in schools across the UK. She is author of the Executive Summary, which is part of a larger research project documenting the impact of SLRC’s Teaching to Transform initiative on educators, learners and communities.
