A core area of study for the archaeology team at BGU is the archaeological signature of medieval religion in Europe. Current research has focused on medieval hospitals and monasteries, but this will be expanded in coming years to include what has been referred to as the ‘Other Monasticism’, including friaries, military orders, and nunneries.
