Here at BGU, we have a number of courses that require our applicants to have GCSE qualifications to meet our entry requirements, these include our QTS and Psychology courses.

PGCE Primary, Secondary, School Direct and Assessment Only Route to QTS:
- You must have achieved GCSE Grade C (grade 4 on the new grading system) or above in English Language and Mathematics.
- You must have also achieved GCSE Grade C (grade 4 on the new grading system) or above in Science, if you wish to train to teach the Primary age range.
BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS (3 year undergraduate) and BA (Hons) Primary Teaching Studies with QTS (15 month top up degree):
- You must have achieved GCSE Grade C (grade 4 on the new grading system) or above in English Language, Mathematics and Science.
Psychology:
- You must have achieved GCSE Grade C (grade 4 on the new grading system) or above in English Language and Mathematics.
It is preferable to have these qualifications before applying, however, consideration will be given to those which are achieved prior to enrolment. It is your responsibility to have these qualifications in place before you can enrol onto the course.
We do consider equivalent qualifications at BGU, and below is a list of the equivalent qualifications that meet the entry requirements for our courses.
If your qualifications are not listed in the above documents, we will consider equivalency tests taken with the following providers:
- Educate Teacher Training
- A Star Equivalency
- MME (Maths Made Easy)
- Birmingham City University
