Primary Partnership

Our courses for QTS include undergraduate three-year courses and postgraduate one-year courses as well as School Direct. These different routes to teaching, together with our non-QTS Education courses, offer many different ways for schools and the university to work together.

Over the last two years we have successfully developed clusters/ITT training hubs where groups of schools lead more of the training experiences of trainees and deliver some of the professional module input locally. This has been very popular amongst schools at a distance from BGU’s base in Lincoln.

Many schools continue to work with us on a one-to-one basis, training trainees in the classroom and taking part in the selection, training and assessment of students.

We also have a significant number of schools working with us on the flagship School Direct route through which schools may seek a training place from NCTL and recruit and select a trainee who will be employed within the school or a cluster of schools in their NQT year.

Using these different training routes we are able to work with schools to develop training programmes that blend with schools’ strengths, requirements and ambitions. This includes initial teacher education, placements for undergraduate students on our education degrees as well as training courses for mentors and coaches and a full suite of professional development educational opportunities including the Master's in Education programme and the Education Doctorate (EdD) for serving teachers.

Secondary Partnership

At Bishop Grosseteste University we strive, in partnership with schools, to deliver the best possible education and to develop the best possible teachers. We offer a range of routes to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in all of which our partner schools play a very significant role. At secondary level our courses are: core; school direct; school direct salaried; assessment only. These different routes to teaching offer many different ways for schools and the university to work together.

We are currently seeking to grow the number of secondary placements and placement schools, and to add to our School Direct places. We are enthusiastic about working with you. If you are keen to join us in making every new secondary teacher outstanding or require any further information on anything to do with Secondary Partnership with BGU please contact Jenny Wynn.
