As the summer shines on, there might just be something in the back of your mind that you can’t stop thinking about.
Results day is on the horizon – the day you’ve been waiting for.
Will I get my grades? What happens if I don’t?
These are valid questions. And ones we can help with. Because if you’re worried about your results – what to do and where to go if you don’t get the grades you were hoping for – then look no further.
Clearing exists to match students with universities which still have places remaining. It’s for those who may have missed out on their grades, but also those who’ve achieved higher than they were expecting. No matter what happens, it’s here to give you the opportunities you were hoping for. And sometimes that’ll take you in a direction you’d never considered.
Here at BGU, we’ve got you covered in all things advice, support and options. So, if you’re worried about Clearing, read on to see how we can help you get ready for what’s next.
How Does it Work?
1. Come Prepared
Lay out the essential information in front of you, and find somewhere quiet before you phone us. You’ll need to have:
UCAS personal ID Number
UCAS Personal Statement
2. Call Us ASAP
We get that the Clearing process can be very fast paced, and can feel a little overwhelming, but it’s important to get in touch with us as early as you can, so you don’t miss out.
3. Consider All Options
As well as your original course preferences, it’s worth keeping an open mind. Something a bit different could take you in a whole new direction – how exciting is that?
What Happens Next?
Now you’ve done the hard stuff, it’s onto the more fun part of Clearing.
To accept an offer, all you’ll need to do is add the choice in Track.
When you sign in, if you’re eligible for Clearing, in the ‘Next Steps’ section you’ll be given an option to ‘Add a Clearing choice’.
You can apply for one choice at a time and once it’s been selected, you cannot add another, unless you’ve been unsuccessful with the first one.
If you want to apply elsewhere once you’ve added a choice, then you need to ask us to cancel your place so you’re able to apply again through Clearing.
If you’re happy with your offer, it’s time to kick back and get ready for the first semester and all that comes with it. Think freshers week, getting to know your new best mates, support at every step from us, and getting to deep-dive into your chosen subject. Roll on September!
Don’t just take our word for it though. BGU student Tom has been there and done that. He says,
“I found BGU through UCAS and actually came through Clearing.
“I thought the Clearing process would be daunting but I spoke to the Head of School on the phone and he made everything really easy.
“Coming to BGU just felt right.”
So remember – Clearing can give you opportunities you may not have considered before. There’s a whole host of courses available on our website for you to check out.
But if you’re still panicking, feel free to call us, or order our Clearing Survival Kit here for further info. Good luck!
