The below is relevant for both the class of 2020, and the class of 2021.

Subject to COVID-19 restrictions, we are hoping to hold an in-person graduation, and we are delighted to invite* 2020 graduates to attend Graduation on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th July 2021, and 2021 graduands to attend Graduation on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd July 2021.

If the in-person ceremonies are cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will revert to running a virtual graduation and we will not be re-arranging the in-person events. If we run a virtual graduation you will be able to celebrate at home free of charge, as your ticket purchases will be refunded. You may still hire your gown at the original hire price, and this will be sent to your home address in a prepaid return package (subject to availability). You will appear at the virtual ceremonies live via Zoom as your name is read out.

The Students’ Union will also be organising a celebratory event with more information to follow soon!

Important Information

Please do not delay in registering to attend and booking your tickets in case you think it may be cancelled or if you think you may not pass the course as late applications will not be accepted.

Which ceremony you attend depends on which course you have studied. Information on this can be found on the year specific pages on the website.

We look forward to celebrating with you in one way or another. A final decision will be made following the government roadmap announcement on 21st June 2021.

*Your invitation is subject to successful completion of your programme and will be confirmed once your final result has been agreed by the Board of Examiners and you have completed your degree successfully.

Booking Information

Please click here to log on to the Ede and Ravenscoft site to order your ceremony tickets, gown and any photographs you may require.

Please note you can order you gowns when purchasing tickets – these will not be available until Thursday 1st April 2021.

You will receive your invitation via email on Wednesday 31st March 2021 which will contain the link to book your tickets and order your gown.

The booking link will be live from Thursday 1st April 2021 until Sunday 16th May 2021.

You must book your graduation tickets by the end of Sunday 16th May 2021, even if you think you might not pass the course. Gowns can be booked at a later stage no later than 1st July 2021.

Ceremony and Tickets

Due to the limited number of seats available in the Cathedral, we are only able to initially offer each student three guest tickets.* Registration to attend and book tickets commences on Thursday 1 April until Sunday 16 May 2021.

The design of the Cathedral might mean that you may not be able to see all the proceedings all of the time from where you are sitting, so large visual screens are placed in the Cathedral to allow guests a clear view, even from the back of the Nave. It is considered that the ceremony is not suitable for young children. If you are bringing children to the ceremony, we politely ask that you try to keep them quiet and seated throughout the ceremony, in respect of this special day.

Please note that due to health and safety regulations children over 12 months old will require their own ticket and will not be able to sit on laps. The graduation ceremony will last approximately one hour.

In addition to the ceremonies in the Cathedral, there will be a link on the BGU Graduation web page to live streaming, so that ceremonies can be viewed online all over world!

*In the very unlikely event of 100% take up on the initial registration the third ticket purchased will be refunded and the surplus tickets re offered on a first come first served basis.

Additional Tickets

Availability of additional tickets cannot be guaranteed or confirmed until all the applications have been processed. We will email your student account on Wednesday 19th May 2021 with details of availability and how to apply. The website goes live on Friday 21st May 2021. Subject to availability, this system will issue available extra tickets on a first come first serve basis.

Please note: All tickets will be e-tickets and should be shown from your mobile device upon arrival at the University and the Cathedral.

Official invitations will be sent to your email address on 31st March 2021 ready for the ticketing to go live at 9am on 1st April 2021. Please contact the office if you do not receive your invitation.

Information about extra tickets will be emailed to you and posted on this website on Wednesday 19th May 2021 – you will not be able to apply for extra tickets unless you have already registered and this will not be live to do so until Friday 21st May 2021.

Please note the Graduation Office will be closed from Friday 2 April and will reopen at 8.30am on Tuesday 6 April 2021. You can still book your tickets via the link when live.

To continue our legacy of supporting students, any profit from the events will be paid directly into the BGU Foundation Fund. The fund supports a range of projects that clearly demonstrate enrichment during your time at the University and after graduation. It focuses on projects that cannot be resourced through the University’s main funds. A number of small grants are available to assist with voluntary work or other innovative, creative, charitable or community based projects both here in the UK or overseas.
