Graduation Course Allocation for 2021 Graduands

Subject to Covid-19 restrictions, we are hoping to deliver an in-person graduation and we are delighted to invite* 2021 graduands to attend Graduation on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 July 2021.

If the in-person ceremonies are cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will revert to running a virtual graduation and we will not be re-arranging the in-person events. If we run a virtual graduation you will be able to celebrate at home free of charge, as your ticket purchases will be refunded. You may still hire your gown at the original hire price, and this will be sent to your home address in a prepaid return package (subject to availability). You will appear at the virtual ceremonies live via Zoom as your name is read out.

The Students’ Union will also be organising a celebratory event with more information to follow soon!

Important Information

Please do not delay in registering to attend and booking your tickets in case you think it may be cancelled or if you think you may not pass the course as late applications will not be accepted.

Further to your initial invitation to graduation that is subject to Covid19 regulations, we continue to approach these arrangements with cautious optimism. There is still a level of uncertainty of the lifting of all restrictions on 21 June, so we advise that you make sure any expense you incur for your graduation is fully refundable in the case we have to move to a Virtual Graduation instead. We are informed by the Public Health department that all our plans are entirely appropriate so please continue to make your bookings as late applications cannot be accepted.

Which ceremony you attend depends on which course you have studied. Information on this can be seen below.

We look forward to celebrating with you in one way or another. A final decision will be made following the government roadmap announcement on 21st June 2021.

*Your invitation is subject to successful completion of your programme and will be confirmed once your final result has been agreed by the Board of Examiners and you have completed your degree successfully.

Please note: you will only be invited to attend your ceremony that you obtained your highest award in. For example, if you graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in 2020, and then studied a PGCE which you are due to graduate in the 2021 cohort with, you will only be invited to attend your 2021 ceremony for your PGCE.

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to register or book tickets until Thursday 1st April 2021. You will receive your official invitation via email on Wednesday 31st March which will contain the link to book your tickets.

You must still book your tickets even if you think you may not pass your course. You must register to attend and buy any of the three guest tickets you require before Sunday 16th May 2021, if you have not registered to attend by this date you will be unable to attend your ceremony. If there are any extra tickets available, they will be available to purchase on a first come first served basis from Friday 21st May 2021.

Under no circumstances shall the University be liable for any actual or alleged loss by the graduand or guests arising from the cancellation or postponement of the event. This includes, but is not limited to, travel, accommodation and subsistence costs or any loss of business or earnings. Graduands and their guests should ensure they have sufficient insurance protection to cover any losses they may incur as a result of postponement or cancellation of Congregation.
