About BGU

Here at BGU we’ve been educating students in the historic heart of the City of Lincoln for over 160 years, located on a beautifully green and pleasant campus just a few minutes’ walk from Lincoln Cathedral, Castle and the old Roman city. We’re set on a beautiful single-site campus, so just about everything you need is close by, whether it be your tutors, your friends, your lectures or the places where you like to relax.

The employability rates of our graduates are consistently high and our students are amongst the happiest in the UK – so you know that at BGU you’ll be in safe hands.

I found BGU through UCAS and actually came through Clearing. I thought the Clearing process would be daunting but I spoke to the Head of School on the phone and he made everything really easy. Coming to BGU just felt right.

Clearing FAQs

What is Clearing?

Clearing is a system that matches university application who have not had an offer to institutions that still have places available. From the 5th July, you can apply for a course using Clearing if:

  • You are applying after the 30th of June
  • You did not receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)
  • You did not meet the conditions of your offer
  • You are applying for the first time and have paid the multiple-choice fee of £27

How do I apply through BGU through Clearing?

Applications can be made via our Clearing Helpline on 01522 583698 where a member of our friendly Enquiries and Admission Team will be on hand to help you. You can also contact us via Whatsapp on 07507976273 or email Applications can also be made via our website during A Level Results Day.

We’d recommend having your address, phone number, email address, Level 3 and GCSE qualifications to hand. Also, have your UCAS Personal ID with you if you applied through UCAS. We’d also recommend preparing a list of questions which you may wish to ask.

What grades will I need to apply for a course through clearing?

The entry requirements during Clearing can vary for each university therefore you will need to speak to them and let them know the grades you have achieved and ask if they will consider you for the course.

If you do not have the UCAS points necessary for direct entry onto a degree course at BGU, then we may be able to offer you a course with a Foundation Year which would need to be passed before progressing onto your chosen degree. Please note the Foundation Year is available for selected subjects at BGU.

What happens after getting your place through clearing

You will need to refer your application to the university you have offered you a place and wait for formal written confirmation of your offer.

Once you have confirmation, you will need to update your Student Finance application. If you’ve already applied for your student loan and you go through clearing, you need to log into your account to update your details. Student Finance England will re-assess your application and let you know if there are any changes to the amount you'll get. If you haven't applied for a student loan yet, don't panic. Apply as soon as you can through Student Finance England.

Can I still apply for accommodation if I secure a place through clearing?

Yes! We guarantee accommodation for all 1st years either on or off-campus.
